Online Affiliate Marketing. What is all the Fuss About?

Online affiliate marketing is like owning and operating a fully stocked department store without costing you a dime. Nada. Nothing. Nill.

Think about this for a moment. Imagine if you were Mr. Sam Walton, the late founder and owner of Walmart. He was a retailing genius would you not agree.

If someone had told him many years ago that he could have a fully stocked store where he could display thousands of articles, and would not even need to have those potential customers cross the threshold. They could simply stay at home and shop in his store.

In fact, take it one step further. He could have any number of stores. Hardware, clothing, cosmetics, health food, baby goods, appliances and hundreds more all without charge. FREE.

If you look at the wealth of the Walton family fortune now can you imagine how much of a greater fortune they would have amassed.

You too have the same opportunity. Everyone who knows how to turn on a computer does. How can it be done?

Did you know that there are thousands of companies online today who are just begging for you to send buyers to their stores.

These companies will pay you anywhere from 2% up to 110% of the retail price of their product or service. Yes 125%.

Who are these companies? Would you believeā€¦.

Sears, Altrec, Nitro-pak, all state, Yahoo, Conair, QVC, HSN, Apple Store, Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Discover Card, Golfsmith, eharmony and the list goes on and on. Literally thousands of companies. They are all online affiliate marketing companies.

Oh yes. About that 125%. Chemistry.com will pay that for a customer sign up.

  • So just how does it work?
  • How would I find these companies?
  • How would I set up a website?
  • How would I know if I could trust them to send me my commission?

Read here how to select products for your affiliate business opportunity.

Here is a simple explanation:

There are many umbrella companies that act on behalf of the affiliate companies. Like a clearing house.

They have a product line they want people (affiliates) to sell for them.

Potential affiliates contact the clearing house, take a look at all of the categories they feel will fit their own website. Once they decide on a possible company they then apply to that company through the clearing house to become an affiliate. If the company decides your site will be compatible with their product line you are in. The company will provide you with links to their products for you to place on your website.

When one of your visitors clicks on one of the links they are taken to the companies website. If they buy something the umbrella company will collect the commission from the company and send you your commission. You do not pay anyone to become an affiliate. You must have either a website or a blog where you can set up your links and content.

Irma and I built our website using Solo Build It. This is a wonderful system because at the beginning we did not have a clue about HTML. Solo Build It uses plain text and all we do is fill in the blocks with text and photos etc. We do not need to deal with anyone else and their user forums are fantastic.

This leaves us spending our time writing content for our site and that is much more important to bring visitors to our site than writing complicated code. Of course the many pages of good quality content is what brings visitors back to us time and time again.

Probably without question the best book we ever read is The Super Affiliate Handbook by Rosalind Gardner.

Here is a lady who sat at her computer, studied all she could find on Online Affiliate Marketing and only two years later was making over $450,000. per year. She has become famous all over North America as a writer and speaker.
