Cooking steak. With the addition of a little cream cheese this stroganoff will turn out rich and creamy.

Grill recipes for steak come in many disguises but when you are searching for marinated steak recipes or advice on how long to cook steak it gets to be a marathon search.

Here is a terrific recipe that will produce a nice tasty repast. Cook it on the stove or in the microwave.

    Beef Stroganoff With Pearl Onions

  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 ½ pounds sirloin steak, cut into 1 ½ inch pieces
  • ½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups fresh mushrooms, halved
  • 1 cup frozen pearl onions, thawed, drained
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon marjoram leaves
  • Cooked egg noodles

    Cooking on the range

In a 10 inch skillet melt butter until sizzling. Add steak, salt and pepper. Cook over medium high heat, stirring occasionally, until browned (five minutes).

Stir in flour to coat steak; add half-and -half, cream cheese and tomato paste. Reduce heat to medium. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sauce is thickened (seven to nine minutes).

Stir in remaining ingredients except noodles. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are tender (three to four minutes). Serve over noodles.

    Cooking in microwave

In a 3 quart casserole dish melt butter on high (thirty to forty seconds). Stir in steak, salt and pepper.

Cover; microwave on high, stirring after half the time, just until the steak is no longer pink (three to four minutes). Stir in flour, half-and-half, cream cheese and tomato paste.

Microwave on high, stirring after half the time, until sauce is thickened (four to six minutes).

Stir in remaining ingredients except noodles. Microwave on high until mushrooms are tender (2 ½ to 3 ½ minutes).

Serve over noodles.
