Whole Chicken Recipes. How Long Can You Keep The Poultry?

Uncooked poultry can be stored for a longer time if it is frozen instead of refrigerated. To freeze, wrap uncooked poultry tightly in aluminum foil or in moisture-proof paper.

When properly wrapped, whole chickens and turkeys can be frozen for up to a year, while whole ducks and geese can be frozen for up to six months.

Cut-up pieces and parts such as legs and wings and breasts cannot be stored for as long as whole birds. They can only be frozen for six months, whereas giblets should be frozen for no more than three months.
