Okanagan golf courses. Ultra special masterpieces.

“Many of us spend half our time wishing for things we could have if we didn't spend half our time wishing.”

Okanagan golf courses offer something for every level of golfer, but one thing is for certain. Quality really is number one.

The Okanagan Valley is one visitors to British Columbia will not readily forget. Located about a five hour spectacular drive from Vancouver, the heavily treed north end near Salmon Arm on the tranquil Shuswap Lake is a stark contrast to the near desert condition found in the southern end at Osoyoos 175 miles away.

Beautifully arranged orchards grow every sort of fruit and vineyards and their wineries are everywhere. The Ice Wine produced here is second to none. Hot summer days, cool evenings dictate the many reasons why so many tourists flock to the lakes and resorts of the spectacular valley.

Okanagan golf courses are located everywhere. The designers have used great imagination in their placement, many of them well up in the hillsides to take advantage of the cooler weather. Make no mistake about it, the valley can get very hot in the mid summer.

Many of the Okanagan golf courses have been rated Best courses in Canada many times over. It seems that builders strive to attain the top rating automatically, resulting in Best New course rankings.

Salmon Arm is a beautiful city of 25,000 in the summer. Built around the west end of Shuswap Lake the Salmon Arm Golf Course is rated at number 16 of Canada’s best.

Kelowna is a city of 150,000 in the middle of the valley and boasts of great Okanagan golf courses . Vernon, Penticton, Oliver and Osoyoos round out the many golf vacation choices available.

There are three highways leading to the Okanagan. From Hope take number one TCH to Cache Creek through the spectacular Fraser Canyon. From Cache Creek to Kamloops and north to Salmon Arm.

From Hope you may elect to take the number 5 the Coquihalla highway to Merritt and then the connector highway 97C to Kelowna.

From Hope you may take Highway 3 to Princeton and on to Osoyoos at the southern end of the Valley.

For those visitors coming from Whistler, rather than going all the way back to Vancouver, you may continue north on highway 99 to Lillooet and join up to highway 97 north of Cache Creek. Turn south for a short run to Cache Creek and turn East on Highway 1 to Kamloops.

Whichever route you may travel you are in for one of the most beautiful road trips anywhere in the world.

Kelowna can also be reached by air from Vancouver or Abbotsford. Westjet and Air Canada operate many daily flights.

Another way to get there is by Greyhound as well as Via Rail from Vancouver.

This is a listing of most of the full size courses. There are a good many other par three and executive courses scattered about as well.
